Welcome!
Dear Friends,
I wish to announce my candidacy for State Representative for the 13th District in Michigan. I will be seeking the Democratic nomination. There are many reasons that I am seeking this position, but first and foremost, is to use my background and experience as a public servant, attorney and business owner for over 18 years, homeowner for over 20 years, and a person who knows how to sacrifice through the most difficult times, to get the job done properly.
As you know, we are in the midst of one of the worst economic collapses in recent memory and it will take a person with a solid background as a taxpayer, homeowner, business owner, union worker, and a public servant for many years to be able to seek solutions to the problems that we are facing.
THE ECONOMY
One major issue to me is the retention and creation of jobs within a region that has been destroyed through unfair trade policies that exist on a worldwide basis. Steps must be taken to prevent further destruction of this region. We must be able to rebuild this region now or we will lose a generation of our children, further destroying opportunities.
While I am running for a position in state government, it is important that stop-gap legislation be passed on a federal level with state incentives to declare Michigan, and the upper Midwest as an economically distressed region. By doing so we will be able to buy valuable time to implement a plan of action to rebuilding this region’s economy. We must further develop incentives to keep our children in colleges and universities so that purchasing power within this region is maintained. Secondly, we must have legislation that will retrain our workers for jobs that will be in demand in the future. One of the ways that we can keep young people in this region is to increase both state and federal grants so as to reduce the student debt load while maintaining purchasing power in this region. Legislation sponsored by Governor Granholm must include health insurance to allow workers to stay in Michigan and seek the jobs of the future that will be in demand.
THE HOUSING CRISIS
We must have a freeze on house assessments for those persons who wish to expand their primary residence. As you are aware, there has been a collapse in the residential real estate housing sector. While this collapse has taken place on a commercial front, it is felt even more so on a residential front since the vast majority of persons are invested in residential real estate. By providing these incentives we will provide badly needed jobs in residential construction and home improvement while rebuilding confidence in this region and in our economy.
Please look at the background, experience, and dedication of the candidate. Once you have had the opportunity to look at my background, experience, and what I have to offer, along with having the opportunity to talk with me, I believe that I am someone you can be proud of as a friend and as a representative. Your consideration is very much appreciated.
Very Truly Yours,
John Graziani
